Leaving Bonners Ferry

I really like this shot. The saturation of sunlight on the sides of the locomotives makes the colors stand out well. The closeness of the photographer to said locos gives it a bold, strong, feeling... but also a little more intimate. The near-parallel shooting angle gives the perspective the focus it needs. Shooting AFTER the units have passed makes for a better "wedge" shot than most that I've seen, which use the shoot-before approach. Finally, the bridge makes for a great background framing object, as well as providing the much-needed contrast from the half-lighting due to the shade.

EXCELLENT shot, my friend. Fellow railfan photographers, take heed of this shot and the rest of his gallery. This guy knows how to set up his shots, and more importantly, he knows how to be selective with which shots he posts. Both of these traits will serve any photographer and deviant well.
